Cold Comforts

I'm sitting here in my kitchen - the coldest room in the house - working on next week's presentation for the Country Living Christmas Fair, freezing my bum off. Deep down I'm longing to be in this funky cabin, folded up in this blue Anthropologie chair with a fire burning my cashmere-socked toes off and a spiked hot chocolate in my hand.

Since that's not in the cards and I am in fact still in my ice-box kitchen, bare-foot and teeth chattering, my friends over at Selfridges have given me some suggestions for keeping warm and cosy now that winter is truly upon us. Here's what is on my list.

*That adorable fox cushion from By Nord. Great for my animal-loving, vegetarian son.
*Diptyque candles. Expensive but worth it. Mimosa is exclusive to Selfridges, just so you know.
*Super luscious, silky Dimple Blush bedspread by Gingerlily. Perfect now that I'm toning things down colour-wise (Did I mention that? Waaaay too much colour going on in this joint).
*Diane Von Furstenberg Arnaude long cardi. I'd wear it to bed then wear it to work. Seriously.
*UGG slippers. I've never had a pair of UGG's but I borrow my teenager's sometimes to walk the dog. Ssh, she doesn't know.

What are your winter rituals when the first chill hits? Break out the eggnog and dance to stay warm? Do tell.

(P.S. I only talk about stuff I like.
P.P.S. If I ever get paid to talk about stuff, you will be the first to know. Full disclosure and all that.)

Feel free to write me a note - I love getting them. It's a bit like getting an old-fashioned letter in the post. Thanks! x
