After weeks of craziness - finding schools, setting up boring and annoying things like phones, internet, electric - I'm finally getting around to thinking a little bit about our new home. It's just a rental so I'm reluctant to do too much to it but it definitely needs some decorating love.
Here's what's inspiring me as we go into the weekend:
Sadly we don't have our bright green sofa anymore, but I love how the lights are hung off to the side.
Emily Chalmers' new book...
She's always good. Nice mix of vintage and pops of color.
None of these pieces below should work together but they do.
Obviously I can never do the all white thing (even though I like it in theory, I love color too much), but I really love the art wall. I've done clusters of art before but never floor to ceiling like this.
Let's be clear. The flat we're renting doesn't have any of the charm of these places - except tall windows. It's got all those things landlords seem to love - beige carpet, cheap laminate flooring, ugly brass knobs on cupboards - why do they do that? I'm renting my house back in LA and we made it look good for our tenants!!
In future posts I might have some ideas to share for renters. Tricks to personalize your space without spending too much or changing all those lovely things your landlord left you - embossed beige wallpaper circa 1982 anyone?

Feel free to write me a note - I love getting them. It's a bit like getting an old-fashioned letter in the post. Thanks! x
