Art Deco Rug Love

I've been scouring 1stdibs for hours looking for rugs for the house I'm working on. I haven't found anything that's right yet, but I've found some gorgeous Art Deco rugs that I want to wrap myself in or at least plop down on and sip a mint julep. Some are French, some are Chinese, all are mind-blowing in their use of colour and pattern.

I think they're all so beautiful. If only I had a spare $30,000. I've heard you can get a nice lump of cash for a kidney these days. Hmmm, food for thought...

I thought I'd see what's out there for reproduction art deco rugs and it turns out brilliant Production Designer Catherine Martin is making some lovely ones. Just in time for the release of The Great Gatsby, directed by her husband Baz Luhrmann (Romeo and Juliet, Moulin Rouge, Australia) with Production Design by Catherine. Apparently her rugs feature heavily in the film. As they should. They're quite lovely.

Feel free to write me a note - I love getting them. It's a bit like getting an old-fashioned letter in the post. Thanks! x
