My Selfridges Wish-list

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to preview the new re-vamped home accessories department at Selfridges on London's Oxford St (voted the best department store in the world. The WORLD people!)

For the record, Oxford St is never as quiet as that top image. Ever. I think swarms of people were airbrushed out. My favourite way to deal with the crowds: earphones in, head down, no eye contact, barge right through, ignore dirty looks. I let my inner bitch come out, it's the only way to deal.

Anyway, I saw all sorts of good stuff on the lower ground floor. If it's not too early for a Christmas list, then, Father Christmas/Santa Claus/Saint Nick/husband, let me begin...

This lot, from Tom Dixon's new Eclectic range.
For all that nut-cracking I'll be doing in December:

Great cast-iron table lamp with a chunky glass shade. Really cool in person.

And this. Cast shoe in black or copper finish. Door-stopper, paper clip holder, beer cup. (I'm talking to my brother-in-law who, along with his drunk hockey player mates has been known to drink beer from shoes. Real, stinky shoes).

For the Scandinavian fan, there is Skandium, who carry the best in Scandi designers. I liked these little glass bowls from Iittala and Marimekko. All of them please. A cluster of them to hold rings and bracelets would be sweet.

Add to the mix some trompe l'oeil wallpaper from Anthropologie (did I mention there's an Anthro in Selfridges too?) and you've got the perfectly imperfect, eclectic, mis-matched, mess of a home you know I love.

If Santa is on a budget this year, the good news is there's loads of good stuff on sale right now. You know I love a good bargain.

I had to stop myself from buying these to add to my colourful Le Creuset collection. But I may go back:

There seems to be a theme here with all this cast iron and black stuff. How very goth of me. Must be Halloween.

Feel free to write me a note - I love getting them. It's a bit like getting an old-fashioned letter in the post. Thanks! x
